In Memoriam

Meghan Lowe shares sad news and this tribute to her mother, Rebecca Ide Lowe (AIS Class of 1972). Heartfelt condolences and prayers to the families from Becky's AIS/AES Family.

From her daughter, Meghan:

"On January 10, at about 7:30 in the morning, our sweet mama, Becky Lowe, passed away. She spent a week in the hospital, fighting streptococcus pneumonia. Abby Lowe-Wilson and I were there for all the hours we could be, save when the hospital made us go home. She fought with courage, strength and beauty. She was 69 years old, the toughest person we know, the strongest person we know, the softest person we know. Most wonderful hugger. Lover of being cozy and warm. She gave the best advice and was always ready to listen. We relied on her for so much. We stayed in the room with her overnight, resting, connecting, crying, hugging, while she did her work of letting go, and making sure she knew how truly blessed we are to carry her within our very cells. In true Becky fashion, she told us on Monday that she was “grateful for all of it” — and that was really her. She found joy and gratitude in the birds and sunlight and trees, in song and connection with others. We miss her deeply.

We are going home to hug our children and husbands, and when we are ready, will begin planning a celebration of her life. And my oh my is there so much to celebrate.

We would love to hear your stories when you are ready."
